“Arden Asbæk Gallery is proud to present Do no harm by the Danish video-based artist Luna Scales. The exhibition is centered around the video work “Minder ved berøring”. The work is based on childhood memories connected to hospital visits and medical examinations, a recurring theme in Scales’ practice that is informed by ableism and an ideological exploration of the relationship between doctor and patient, both from a personal and larger cultural historical angle.”

“For her solo exhibition, Rose Thorn, the Danish-German artist Ursula Reuter Christiansen creates new work, shown in dialog with recent and older drawings, ceramics, and paintings. The selection departs from the idea, that the gallery’s historical limestone building references a small princess castle, overgrown by thorns. The symbolism and the narratives of fairy tales such as Sleeping Beauty often inspired Reuter Christiansen to speak about hurdles of life and feminist issues.”

“A heart of steel is something of a paradox. The beating heart is fleshy and warm – it aches, pines and breaks, it overflows with emotion. This outpouring has been associated with a feminine sensibility and, in its extreme, with female hysteria. By comparison, a heart made of steel and the ability to feel nothing at all is regularly seen as masculine – the beating heart made impenetrable, hard and cold. Yet steel is a material that is willing to be shaped; it is far from rigid and unfeeling.”

For this exhibition, Bülow introduces an extensive installation of sculptural works that further the artist’s interest in the material and mental entanglements to our built environment.”
