CHART 2016: GALERIE NORDENHAKE

In 1973 Claes Nordenhake opened his first gallery in Malmö and in 1986 he moved into the Royal Academy of Art building in Stockholm. In 2000 he expanded again and opened a filial in Berlin where he has been one of the initiating forces behind both Gallery Weekend and abc - art berlin contemporary.

In 2007 Claes Nordenhake got in contact with british art historian Ben Loveless, who ever since has been in charge of the Stockholm gallery. Galerie Nordenhake has a broad focus on international contemporary art in a variety of mediums by both emerging and established artists.

We dropped by Galerie Nordenhake in the center of Stockholms gallery district on the day before the opening of slovenian artist Marjetica Potrč’s exhibition Indigenous Knowledge. Potrč celebrates self-reliance and contributes with positive ideas and constructive solutions on some of the major issues that our planet is facing in the near future. The inspiration is found partly in modern technology and in the amazonian rainforest where she has studied the isolated Croa River community.

Below you can see our video interview with Ben Loveless and hear him tell much more about the Galerie Nordenhake history and what he loves the most about being a gallerist. The film has been made in collaboration with Chart Art Fair where Galerie Nordenhake will be present.

Chart Art Fair runs from the 26th - 28th of August, 2016 at Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen. More info here.
