The Land of Milk and Honey
-
A performance lecture by Hannah Anbert

The performance lecture "The Land of Milk and Honey" is a fairytale about market, debt and the private production of money. Anbert will take us on a journey to places far from here, but nonetheless as bizarre.

Overlapping or the sometimes painful clash of identity and work are the subject of Anbert’s practice. She investigates the extent to which political economy influences our social relationships and what obscure, peculiar and amusing forms a late capitalist working day can take in an artistic work. In the German word “Beruf”, the meaning of “work” and “vocation, destiny” aptly coincide and point exactly to the overlapping of the two contexts that Anbert illuminates in her artistic production.

Her works do not fit into this logic of the coincidence of identity and occupation, but rather question whether there are isolated (and intimate) structures that oppose these very conditions. What kind of forms take on resistance when it is formulated between pop songs and wage labor?

Hannah Anbert (b. 1984) is based in Copenhagen and Berlin. Recent projects include the solo exhibition Slower and Cheaper at Overgaden. Institut for Samtidskunst, Copenhagen and Sacred Work Fashion Collection for RIBOCA, Riga International Biennial of Contemporary Art. In 2016 she received the European StartPiont Prize and in 2018 the Carl Nielsen and Anne Marie Carl Nielsen Talent Prize.

Time: January 24, 2019, from 9-11 pm | Venue: Pogo Bar.
